1. ) What are the grounds when a water service connection may be disconnected?
Answer:
1.) non-payment of water dues for two months.
2.) upon voluntary request by the registered consumer.
3.) if found to have illegal activity or violation on any of the provisions of the Water Service Contract.
2.) Will BWUI inform the consumer when his service line will be cut off?
Answer:
Yes, a notice of disconnection will be attached to the water bill specifying the scheduled date of Disconnection.
3.)When will a disconnected service line be reconnected?
Answer:
Within the day or one (1) day after payment of all the necessary fees. If a disconnected service connection is applied for reconnection after two (2) months from the time it was disconnected, then it has to go through the usual flow of processing andmust comply with the requirements.
4.) What regulatory body will determine and approve water rate increase?
Answer:
It is the National Water Resources Board (NWRB) who will regulate the water rates of the water distribution utilities.
5.) Will a customer be required to pay large billings due to leakage within the residence?
Answer:
Yes, because it is the responsibility of Consumer to maintain and repair the facility within his premises to ensure that there are no leakages.
